Dwyer MSX-W10-PA Air Differential Pressure Transmitter – Compact & Easy System Integration
Posted on: 20/07/2026
In small and medium HVAC systems, choosing a compact differential pressure transmitter that still
ensures accuracy and easy signal integration into control panels is a common requirement for M&E
engineers. The MSX-W10-PA air differential pressure transmitter from Dwyer's Series MSX Pro
Magnesense® is an ideal choice for these applications.
Introduction to Series MSX – Model MSX-W10-PA
MSX-W10-PA is an electronic air differential pressure transmitter utilizing Dwyer's Magnesense® Pro technology – a magnetoresistive sensing technology that enables fast calibration and long-term stability. Compared to models featuring an integrated LCD display (such as MSX-W12-PA-LCD), the MSX-W10-PA is a compact, streamlined version perfectly suited for systems that already possess a central monitoring display and do not require direct local value readings at the sensor location.

Installation and User Guide
Step 1: Select an installation position on the air duct wall or nearby electrical panel close to the measurement point, ensuring easy accessibility for wiring and future maintenance.
Step 2: Connect pressure sampling tubes (flexible plastic tubing) from the two measurement points on the duct to the high (+) and low (-) pressure ports of the sensor, ensuring airtight connections.
Step 3: Wire the power supply and output signal cables according to the wiring diagram provided in the technical documentation, routing them to the BMS or central controller.
Step 4: After supplying power, execute the auto-zero calibration step following technical instructions while there is zero differential pressure between the two measurement ports.
Step 5: Configure the measuring range and output signal type (e.g., 4-20 mA or 0-10 V) suited to system requirements using the integrated onboard operation buttons.
Step 6: Verify the output signal using a multimeter or central controller software to confirm accurate sensor operation.
Step 7: Perform periodic inspections and repeat auto-zero calibration as needed (recommended every 6 to 12 months) to maintain long-term measurement accuracy.
Note: As this model does not feature a local display screen, output signals should be verified via the central monitoring system or portable calibration meters when verifying real-time values.
Practical Applications
● Air differential pressure monitoring across AHU and FCU units in small to medium commercial buildings.
● Integrating differential pressure signals into BMS for automated fan speed and damper control.
● Air filter monitoring: detecting clogged filters and triggering alarms when differential pressure exceeds safety thresholds.
● Applications requiring compact sensor dimensions and space-saving installation within electrical control cabinets.
