1. What is the Magnehelic Series 2000?

The Magnehelic Series 2000 is the flagship mechanical differential pressure gauge from Dwyer Instruments (USA). Operating entirely on a frictionless magnetic linkage movement, it precisely measures low air or non-corrosive gas pressures.

The greatest advantage of the Series 2000 is its ability to measure ultra-low differential pressures without requiring electrical power. Featuring direct analog pointer display, rapid response time, and virtually zero maintenance over its operational lifecycle, the Dwyer Magnehelic Series 2000 has become the industry standard. Almost every AHU, HVAC system, and cleanroom facility in Vietnam is equipped with at least one unit.

3. Practical Industrial Applications

  • AHU/FCU Air Filter Monitoring: Allows technicians to instantly detect clogged filters based on
rising pressure drop, enabling timely cleaning or replacement to prevent fan strain.
  • Cleanroom Pressure Control: Maintains stable positive (or negative) differential pressure
between cleanroom zones in pharmaceutical plants, semiconductor facilities, and operating
rooms to block contaminants.
  • Fan & Ductwork Testing: Measures duct static pressure, verifies airflow rates, and evaluates
actual fan performance.
  • Dust Collection & Spray Booths: Monitors differential pressure across baghouse filters,
cyclones, and ensures correct airflow velocity in industrial paint booths.

4. How to Select the Correct Pressure Range

⚠️ Golden Rule: Select a pressure range such that the normal operating pressure falls within 30% to 70% of the full scale.
  •  If the range is too wide: The pointer will stay close to zero, making it difficult to read minor pressure fluctuations.
  •  If the range is too narrow: Normal operating pressures or dirty filter conditions will easily exceed full scale, risking pointer pinning and internal mechanism damage.
📌 Practical Example: If an AHU filter system has an initial pressure drop of 100 Pa and requires replacement when reaching 250 Pa, the most suitable choice is the 0–500 Pa range.
