  • Incorrect Location: Installing the thermostat in direct sunlight, near heat sources (e.g., TVs, refrigerators), or directly underneath the FCU supply air vent. This causes the internal sensor to read incorrect temperatures, leading to erratic valve cycling.

  • Modbus Wiring Reversal: Confusing the polarity of the A (+) and B (-) signal wires. This is the most common reason the BMS cannot detect the device.

  • Loose Connections: Terminal screws that are not tightened properly can cause electrical arcing (sparking), melting the plastic casing and damaging the PCB.

  • Incorrect Voltage: Applying 24V to the TFM428KNM/U (which requires 220VAC) or vice versa, leading to immediate failure or non-operation.

2. Safety Rules

    • Press "Mode" to cycle through function codes (ISU Codes).

    • Press "Up/Down" arrows to change the value.

  3. Critical Codes to Note:

    • ISU Code 1 (System Type): Select '0' for a 2-pipe system.

    • ISU Code for Modbus ID: Set a unique ID for each device (1 to 255) so the BMS can identify it. Do not duplicate IDs on the same RS485 line.

    • ISU Code for Baud Rate: Ensure the transmission speed (e.g., 4800, 9600, 19200) matches the master system settings.

  4. Save and Exit: Press "Mode" and "Up" simultaneously or wait 10 seconds for the device to auto-save and return to the main screen.

Step 3: Temperature Calibration

If the displayed temperature differs from the actual room temperature measured by a calibrated thermometer:

  • Enter ISU Mode.

  • Find the Temp. Display Offset function code (usually code 18 or 20 depending on the firmware version).

  • Adjust the value up or down (-2°C to +2°C) to compensate for the deviation.
