Dwyer 2000-300PA and 2000-300MM Differential Pressure Gauges — The Optimal Solution for Monitoring AHU Medium Bag Filters
In the operation of centralized heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (AHU/PAU) systems, controlling the cleanliness and airflow through the filter stages is the decisive factor for supply air quality. If pressure drop is not monitored, a clogged filter will reduce airflow, overload the fan motor, and increase power consumption. The Dwyer 2000-300PA and 2000-300MM differential pressure gauge duo is the industry-standard mechanical solution that helps engineers accurately track the status of bag filters.

What are the Dwyer 2000-300PA and 2000-300MM Gauges?
These are two models belonging to the Magnehelic® Series 2000 product line by Dwyer Instruments (USA). Both devices operate based on a highly elastic silicone differential diaphragm structure combined with a frictionless magnetic rotary mechanism, visually displaying mechanical differential pressure without the need for a power supply. The only difference between these two models is the measurement unit displayed on the dial:
2000-300PA: Displays the measurement scale in Pascals (0–300 Pa), with minor divisions of 10.0 Pa.
2000-300MM: Displays the measurement scale in millimeters of water column (0–300 mmWC), suitable for technical drawings using older or specific standard systems.
Advanced HVAC Knowledge — Monitoring Principles and Thresholds for Replacing Bag Filters (F7/F8)
In standard AHU systems for office buildings, commercial centers, or clean factories, the medium bag filter (F7 or F8 standard according to EN 779) is installed after the G4 primary filter stage to retain fine dust particles. According to the technical specifications from filter manufacturers, a new F7 bag filter when put into operation will have an initial pressure drop ranging from 45 Pa to 70 Pa depending on the design airflow.
Over time, dirt accumulates thickly in the filter fabric crevices, increasing airflow resistance. M&E operational standards stipulate that the maximum acceptable final pressure drop of the F7/F8 bag filter is 200 Pa to 250 Pa. Exceeding this threshold, the filter is considered fouled, airflow is severely obstructed, causing a drop in the total duct static pressure. Choosing a differential pressure gauge with a range of 300 Pa or 300 mmWC helps the gauge pointer sweep fully from the clean filter state until it hits the replacement threshold (located at 2/3 of the scale), helping maintenance engineers plan maintenance accurately.

Technical Notes for Installation on Air Systems
Incorrect location of pressure tapping pipes: To measure the pressure drop across the bag filter, the HIGH port of the gauge must be connected by a flexible tube leading to the front of the filter (unfiltered air side, high pressure). The LOW port is connected leading to the back of the filter (filtered air side, low pressure). If wired in reverse, the gauge pointer will be stuck in the negative range below zero.
Incorrect vertical posture of the display face: Installing the mechanical differential pressure gauge at an angle will cause gravity to misalign the internal rubber diaphragm, causing the pointer to deviate from the fixed Zero point. A spirit level must be used to position the gauge face perfectly vertical at a 90-degree angle to the floor.
